Patrick Cozzi is the Chief Platform Officer at Bentley Systems, a position he took on after Bentley's 2024 acquisition of Cesium, the open 3D geospatial platform he founded. A pivotal figure in 3D technology, Cozzi created the open-source CesiumJS library, the 3D Tiles OGC Community Standard for streaming geospatial data, and co-created the widely adopted glTF™ 3D asset format. His influential work in fostering an open and interoperable metaverse includes co-chairing the Metaverse Standards Forum’s 3D Asset Interoperability group and receiving multiple accolades, such as a Lifetime Achievement Award at the WebXR Awards and an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year award. Beyond his technical contributions, Cozzi has authored several books on computer graphics, co-founded the nonprofit CreateAccess to broaden opportunities in 3D creation, and holds a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he taught for nearly a decade.
