Call for Proposals is now Open!

The FOSS4G North America conference convenes users, developers, decision-makers, and advocates who are passionate about free and open geospatial technologies.

The 2026 conference will be held in Sacramento, California, from November 2-4. This year’s event focuses on the themes of Resilience and Innovation, emphasizing how open geospatial data, tools, and collaboration can help solve real-world challenges, strengthen communities, and support more effective public decision-making. We welcome submissions that share practical knowledge, highlight tools and workflows, and demonstrate real-world impact.

We encourage contributions from a wide range of perspectives - technical, applied, community-driven, and business-oriented - and welcome presenters from diverse backgrounds, including those who are new to the field. Whether you’re an experienced professional or just getting started, this is an opportunity to learn, connect, and inspire others.

As the conference will be held in Sacramento, we are especially interested in topics related to open data, water policy and implementation, wildfire and hazard applications, and environmental resilience.

Session formats include 20-minute presentations and 5-minute lightning talks as part of the main conference program. Presentations may also be submitted as academic papers. We encourage submissions of posters, particularly for early-stage projects or emerging ideas. Pre-conference workshops will also be offered on Monday, November 2nd. Workshops are typically 3-hour sessions designed to guide participants through the features and use of various software projects.
